Dick Clark estate donates $1 million to Delta Kappa Epsilon

Broadcast legend and Syracuse University alumnus Dick Clark, who died of a heart attack last April, has donated $1 million to his college fraternity.

Documents filed by Clark estate trustees show the donation went to the Delta Kappa Epsilon Foundation in New York, which handles finances for the fraternity’s chapters across the nation, according to a March 14 TMZ.com article.

Clark was a member of the SU chapter from 1947 to 1951 and was president during his senior year. In 1991, Clark helped DKE buy the Horace Wilkinson Mansion on Walnut Avenue, paying for part of the $886,000 house.

In a statement posted on the national DKE website, the fraternity acknowledged the donation and said Clark was a “genuinely wonderful human being.”

“Dick was an exceptionally loyal and supportive member of our Fraternity throughout his lifetime, and was proud of his affiliation with DKE,” the statement read. “We, too, are proud and honored to have called him our Brother.”
