From the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death to the Mayfest lineup announcement, it’s been a week for the arts globally and right here in Syracuse.

Professor fosters love for Shakespeare through scholarly work

Syracuse University English and textual studies professor Dympna Callaghan has let her love of William Shakespeare become a central focus in her academic work. A topic she’s especially interested in is the practice of color blind casting in Shakespeare plays. She has attended every Shakespeare Association of America conference for the past 20 years.

The artists will perform in Walnut Park at 1 p.m. April 29 before Block Party. Mayfest is free to undergraduate students with an SU or SUNY-ESF ID.
