A car hit a bicyclist at the intersection of Comstock and Euclid Avenue Monday night.

A car hit a bicyclist on the corner of Euclid and Comstock avenues on Monday evening. The bicyclist is expected to survive.

Syracuse Police Department officers who were at the scene would not give the details of the accident, but said the bicyclist only complained of pain. It is unclear whether the bicyclist is affiliated with Syracuse University.

A police scanner showed police responded to a call of motor vehicle collision at 6:39 p.m. on Monday.

The driver, a Syracuse University graduate who said he was heading to a restaurant, said his car was going between 25 and 30 mph on the yellow light as the bicyclist cut through Euclid Avenue on the red light. He said the bicyclist’s backpack hit the front glass of the car and caused a spider web crack.

When the bicyclist fell onto the road, the driver said he heard the bicyclist saying that his head was fine but he had pain in his arms.

The bicyclist was put on a stretcher and taken to an ambulance, which left the scene around 7 p.m. The specific condition of the bicyclist is unknown.
