Gabriela Knutson and Syracuse are now ranked 27th in the country, one spot higher than it was a week ago.

After going 1-1 this weekend, Gabriela Knutson fell one spot to No. 5 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association tennis rankings. Knutson opened the weekend against Duke’s then-No. 5 Samantha Harris. The SU junior opened the match on Friday by winning eight straight games, but she could maintain early success. After a second set defeat, Knutson was swept in the third set in a 6-0, 4-6, 0-6 loss.

On Sunday, Knutson made light work of Notre Dame’s Allison Miller in a 6-3, 6-2 win at Drumlins Country Club. Of Knutson’s three losses this season, all of them are currently ranked top four in the nation.

The pairing of Knutson and Ramirez jumped two spots to No. 11 after two victories this week. Versus Duke Knutson and Ramirez defeated then-No. 8 Ellyse Hamlin and Kaitlyn McCarthy, 6-2. Two days later, the SU duo won in first doubles against Notre Dame, 6-4.

Syracuse moved up one spot to No. 27 this week, its second-highest mark of the season. Against then-No. 4 Duke, the Orange squandered an early lead to the Blue Devils and lost 4-2. After the loss, SU recovered in a dominant 4-0 win against UND to end its three-match losing streak.

Syracuse will close out its season on Sunday when it takes on No. 33 North Carolina State in Raleigh.
