In case you missed some of winter break’s biggest movie releases, you can catch them for free on campus this spring.

University Union recently announced their Spring 2019 Cinemas Schedule, which features thirteen films throughout the semester. The no-charge screenings will be held every Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. in HBC Gifford Auditorium, starting Jan. 17.

BlacKkKlansman

When: Jan. 17-19

“BlacKkKlansman,” directed by Spike Lee, is the story of an African-American detective. He sets out to expose the Ku Klux Klan after facing hostility working with the Colorado Springs Police Department. The film stars John David Washington, Topher Grace, Laura Harrier and Adam Driver.

First Man

When: Jan. 24-26

Director Damien Chazelle and actor Ryan Gosling, from “La La Land,” join forces again to tell the story behind Neil Armstrong’s trip to the moon. The film chronicles the decade that led up to the historic Apollo 11 flight, also starring Claire Foy, Jason Clarke, Kyle Chandler and Corey Stoll.

Beautiful Boy

When: Jan. 31 through Feb. 2

Amazon’s “Beautiful Boy,” starring Steve Carell and Timothée Chalamet, tells an intimate story of a family, as they cope with addiction. The film is based on David Sheff’s memoir, “Beautiful Boy,” and “Tweak,” written by his son, Nic Sheff.

Green Book

When: Feb. 7-9

Inspired by a true story, “Green Book” is about a pair of friends who rise above race and class tensions in 1960s America, during a journey from New York City into the Deep South. The film won three awards at this year’s Golden Globe Awards, including a “Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture” win for Mahershala Ali.

Bohemian Rhapsody

When: Feb. 14-16

“Bohemian Rhapsody,” starring Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury, took home Best Drama Motion Picture at the Golden Globes. The film features some of Queen’s greatest hits, while chronicling the band’s rise to fame and Mercury’s personal story.

Mary Queen of Scots

When: Feb. 21-23

Known for her leading role in “Lady Bird,” Saoirse Ronan plays the titular role of Mary Stuart in “Mary Queen of Scots.” The film tells the story of the young queen, and her cousin, Elizabeth I (Margot Robbie), as they face political and personal challenges while governing the kingdom.

If Beale Street Could Talk

When: Feb. 28 through March 2

“If Beale Street Could Talk,” based on James Baldwin’s 1974 novel of the same name, tells the story of a woman who seeks to prove her lover’s innocence before their child is born. The film stars Kiki Layne, Colman Domingo, Stephan James and Regina King, who won Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her performance as Sharon Rivers, at the Golden Globes.

The Cinemas Schedule lineup also features “The Hate U Give” (March 21-23), “Vice” (March 28-30), “The Favourite” (April 4-6). “On the Basis of Sex” (April 11-13), “Mary Poppins Returns” (April 18-20) and “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” (April 25-27).
