Three Syracuse players were named to the preseason All-Atlantic Coast Conference team, including midfielders Brendan Curry and Tucker Dordevic and long-stick midfielder Brett Kennedy.
Syracuse was also voted to finish fifth out of five teams in the ACC, according to the coaches poll. The Orange earned seven votes, behind North Carolina (12), Notre Dame (16), Duke (17) and Virginia (23).
SU ranks No. 12 in Inside Lacrosse’s preseason poll and is scheduled to play eight games against preseason top 10 teams. Just over a week ago, IL named four SU players preseason All-Americans, including Curry, Dordevic, Kennedy and attack Owen Hiltz.
But since, Hiltz suffered an upper body injury from a hit during SU’s scrimmage against Michigan. He is reportedly expected to miss significant time.
Curry, a three-time team captain, will enter the season coming off 42 straight starts. He scored 17 goals and added 11 assists last year as SU went 7-6 and was eliminated by Georgetown in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Dordevic led SU’s midfield in points last year with 23 goals and eight assists. Kennedy is entering his sixth season with the Orange, and has played both long-stick midfielder and close defense.
Syracuse’s season-opener is scheduled for Feb. 12 against Holy Cross in the Dome.
