Three-star wide receiver Darius Johnson committed to Syracuse, the program announced on social media Wednesday. Johnson was committed to Troy since June but visited SU Saturday when it upset then-No. 8 Miami.
On National Signing Day, Johnson becomes the Orange’s 34th verbal commit — the most in the country. The wide receiver is 5-foot-9 and 155 pounds, per his 247Sports profile. He is a Miami, Fla, native and attends Northwestern High School.
In addition to SU and Troy, Johnson had 22 other offers from schools, including SMU, Arkansas and Auburn. According to Mike McAlister of 247Sports, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, South Florida and Tulane were also pushing for Johnson to visit their programs.
