Justyn Knight finished his last regular season meet by adding another milestone to his heralded SU career.

In the last regular season meet of SU’s season, Paige Stoner broke the SU record in the 5K and Justyn Knight placed third in his race by cracking the top 10 in NCAA history for the second time.

Stoner placed second in her section. Alaska Anchorage’s Caroline Kurgat edged her by 0.05 seconds. Stoner’s time, 15:41.26, crushed SU’s record previously held by Sarah Pagano, by over seven seconds. The 5000-meter record stood since 2014.

In the top section of the men’s 5K, Knight surrounded himself with elite professional runners. Knight finished third in the race, behind JRS Sports Management’s Henrik Ingebrigtsen and Nike’s Riley Masters. After Nationals, Knight will sign with a brand and run professionally too.

Knight finished three seconds ahead of the next collegiate runner, Northern Arizona’s Andy Trouard. Knight’s mark, 13:18.74, is the tenth fastest time recorded in NCAA history. Knight already owns the third-fastest collegiate time, which puts him in good company.

Knight and Stoner will try to carry the momentum into next week’s ACC Championships in Miami.
