SU notches 2 1st-place finishes at Dr. Sander’s Scorcher Invitational

Taleea Buxton notched her second consecutive first-place finish, while Shayla Ford won the women’s 400-meter dash.

For the second week in a row, sophomore Taleea Buxton shined as the Syracuse track and field team competed in the Dr. Sander Scorcher Invitational.

Buxton set a personal best 8.42 time in the women’s 60-meter hurdles en route to another event win.
Junior hurdler Peyton Rollins achieved fourth place with a time of 8.59 in the same event. In the prelims, freshman Madison Ceasar finished 15th, and sophomore Marissa Saunders finished 19th, with 8.85 and 8.91 times, respectively.

Sophomore Shayla Ford won the women’s 400-meter dash, setting a personal best of 58.78. Meanwhile, Ceasar finished 11th, with a new personal best of 1:00.17.

Senior Olivia Garner barely missed finals qualification, with a ninth-place finish in the women’s 60-meter dash, running a 7.73.



For the men, Emanuel Joseph led the way with a second-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles. The junior clocked a 7.88 time, while his pair of senior teammates, Isaiah Lewis and David Peters, ended with 8.07 and 8.15 times, respectively.

The Orange will compete in two different events next weekend. Some of the team will be up in Boston for the John Thomas Terrier Classic, while everyone else competing will head down to Clemson for the Bob Pollock Invite.
