VPA undergraduate student dies

Syracuse University officials announced a first-year student studying musical theatre died in a campus-wide email Friday night.

Christina “Elise” Wobbe, a freshman in the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse University, recently died, university officials announced in a campus-wide email Friday evening.

Wobbe was originally from Louisville, Kentucky, and was studying musical theater, wrote Allen Groves, SU’s senior vice president and chief student experience officer.

“On behalf of Chancellor Kent Syverud, Vice Chancellor and Provost Lois Agnew, VPA Dean Michael Tick, and the entire Orange community, I extend heartfelt sympathies and condolences to Elise’s family, her loved ones and other friends here on campus and at home,” Groves wrote.

Students in need of immediate support can receive confidential counseling through the Barnes Center at The Arch or by calling (315) 443-8000. SU’s Student Outreach and Support also provides resources at (315) 443-4357 on weekdays.



Faculty and staff can access resources 24 hours a day through Carebridge at (800) 437-0911. Hendricks Chapel offers services to all members of the SU community at (315) 443-2901.
